Our Initiatives

Book Drives

Project Nalanda receives all home library books through book drives, striving to make the organization a project by the community, for the community. These book drives are hosted at various Indian events organized by various Indian associations in the DFW area. We have done book drives so far at Garba events, Gujarati drama events, and Gujarati speaker events. Currently, we take donations only in the form of books.

Information about our upcoming book drives will be available on our social media platforms, (@projectnalanda) and our website. Additionally, books can be donated directly to home library locations at any time.

We always look for people to volunteer at our book drives, so please email contact@projectnalanda.org or DM us on Instagram if you would like to volunteer at one of the book drives

Home Libraries

Our home libraries are scattered across the DFW area, allowing anyone who would like to check out a book to find one in their area. These libraries are hosted by volunteers for the organization, and all have their own openings for when people can come and check out books.

Check out our current locations and timings on our website's "Home Libraries" page.

Do you know of a book in an Indian language that has been translated into English? Please suggest those books to us. Our second-generation Indian Americans would love to read those books and get more information about their culture.

If you can translate some short stories for us from an Indian language to the English language we would love to put it on our Blog for our English readers.

How can you help?

We need help in various roles. You can become involved as a volunteer who works in book drives, helps us spread the word, and helps deliver and collect the books. Or become a library host and manage a home library at your home. We are always in need of books (preferred) and/or money to grow our network of home libraries.of
